Hair color tips needed! I color my hair at home usually with a box kit from the store.?

My natural color is dark dirty blonde. Right now my hair is colored a golden blonde you could say. I would like to color it a blonde that is not so golden. Just more of a light blonde. I am aware not to use any 'ashy blonde'; coloring kits. I want to go to a beauty supply store to get my next coloring supplies. what will I be looking for? I would like to be educated when I walk in there. Thanks!Hair color tips needed! I color my hair at home usually with a box kit from the store.?
You can't lift color with color.

The way i am taking your problem is that you're trying to lighten it.

You can either get one of those color removing kits or bleach.

It is less harsh to the hair if you just lift the color.

So I would say just ask for a color removing kit and some hair dye.

At beauty supply stores they sell the color with out the developer.

Just buy a bottle of that too and you're good to go.Hair color tips needed! I color my hair at home usually with a box kit from the store.?
first i would buy the temp colors or spray on colors to see what brand you like or what cors then find the color your like and fablous
i would just let the hair place do it for you

Hair coloring tips?

Okay well ive been using this hair dye: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j鈥?/a>

and last time I dyed my hair with this was about 5-6 months ago. So today I got a haircut and its about 3-4 inches past my shoulders. I have dark brown hair and some of the dye from that product is still in it. I wanted to do a couple of streaks with red, not professionally (not in the salon). I wanted to do a couple on top and on the bottom layer of my hair so when I tie it up you can see the dye. Its a dark red and its made for brown hair, so it would show up. Will it damage my hair since I still have some of the other hair dye in? And also, do you think it would look good? Thanks for your opinions(:Hair coloring tips?
It might be a bit damaging but since it's only a couple of streaks it's not a huge deal. Just condition. I think it would look awesome, but only put it on the bottom layers. It would be cool to see a hint of red on the bottom. But, I think if you put it on the top it would seem streaky and overpowering.Hair coloring tips?
All hair dye eventually damages hair roots if it is constantly used...

the best way to find out would be to correspond the chemicals found in both of the hair product....if it is found to react chemically, you shouldnt use it....

However, you can try using heena which is used traditionally by indians to draw art on their hands, it is natural and the colour stays longer.

Try out this game if you can, great game...

ummm, not I dont think it will do any more harm than regular usage of dyes would cause. You know hair dye no matter what kind does dry out the hair. If you are looking to do streaks, I always tell people to do them at the salon, they looks neater and better. However, I understand it is costly, if your gonna do streaks, have someone help you and use foil to keep the strand from touching other hairs. If you dont know how to do it, go onto youtube and look for vids that show a demonstration on how to do streaks. Good Luck. Oh by the way, im not sure if the dark red and brown would look good together...thats just my opinion.

Hair coloring tips!?!?

ok, so I finally have the green light to dye my hair, and I have no idea what to do. (I'm getting it professionally done) I have Deep brown eyes. and very dark brown hair. My skin tone is on the lighter shade of being tan, What colors would be the best way to go, to make my eyes pop, or stand out? I don't want to look dumb.. so what colors would you suggest? Thank you!!Hair coloring tips!?!?

I've been wanting to get highlights in my hair but i'm not really sure what colors to get. any suggestions?... oh and do you think i'd look good with all blonde hair?

heres a picture..

From looking at your picture, i really think you would look good with all blondhair. Like maybe a golden-medium bblondwith Light blblondghlights! I seriously believe you could pull it off. If your eyebrows are dark you could always dye them the darker blond color. people will say not too but as long as your really careful and safe you will be fine! And i have light brown eyebrows and light blonblond with even lighter highlights and it looks good. :) hope that helps and good luck with you hair remember if you dont like you can always fix it!

Hair coloring tips :)
With your eyes and skin, I think you'd look really good with a lot of colors. Red would go great with your greenish eyes... and blonde would look great too, with fair skin and light eyes. I think you'd like an all-over blonde coloring! :) If you're unsure, you could try going up one level and see if you like it. Your hair looks light brown now. Why not try a dark blonde first?
I think you would look fine with a honey blonde hair color, however if you just want the highlights I would go for a deep honey gold color with red lowlights.

Good luck and hope this helped
I think you're gorgeous btw! You'd look really cute with a few caramel blond highlights in with your natural hair color! Or two tones, caramel, w. a pale blond as well.
keep your hair dark. Get highlights and lowlights, it will look really nice. Go one shade brighter, and one shade darker throughout your hair for the highlights/lowlights.
i think you should do it light brown and have some blonde highlights that would look really nice :)
I'm thinking light brown

I have been home dying my hair for about 10 years. I use a box clairol I think. I dye my hair a lighter blonde than its natural dirty blonde. Lately it has taken on an orangy tone and I do not like it. Any ideas on how to get rid of the golden orangy colors. I would go to the salon but I just can't afford it. ThanksHair Coloring tips?
To counter act with the orange you would have to add a violet in your blonde tones. If you need a quick fix to your problem buy ';shimmer lights'; it's a purple shampoo. If you have lots of brass put it on dry hair for 15 minutes and then rinse it out with the same shampoo...It works wonders! You could buy shimmer lights at Sally's beauty supply, or you could buy any purple shampoo. But don't worry your hair wont turn purple. It's all about the color wheel of hair.Hair Coloring tips?
Try leaving it on a bit longer. If that doesn't work, maybe its time for a lighter color.
well u shouldtake another blonde not very light or u can go to a saloon to buy rims platine colour. it will remove the orange and make it look more white and its very cheep
this is because you have dyed your hair so much. all I can reccomend is that you save money and get your hair stripped, then wait for about 3-6 months before dying it again, but remember, every time you dye your hair, it becomes a shade darker and thinner, and very brittle, to strip it it usally cost arounf 30-70 dollars more or less depending on where you go. hope this helps!
go n blacken ur hair.......

n then try out plum..burgundy........

just dun put on diff kinda colours...

burgundy plum wud look kinda sober on black hair...but it does gives a nice shade in the sun...

I want to get my hair colored! Tips please!?

I'm trying to convince my mom to let me color my hair. I have layered brown hair and I want to get lowlights! I think that if I know my facts that she will let me get it done but I'm having a hard time finding them so I thought I would people with experience. How long does it last? At a pretty nice hair salon (innovations for example) how much does it usually cost? And last but not least my mom kind of laughs when I ask her for lowlights and she then gets all mad when I tell her I'm serious and really want them. I ask her why she gets them and she's says cause it makes her feel good and I say well it would make me feel good and she just gets really mad and says I'm to young! How do I talk her into it? How To Color Your Hair

http://geebal.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-t鈥?/a>I want to get my hair colored! Tips please!?
It is bad for your scalp to die your hair, would extensions work?what about putting lemon juice or more natural ways or make a deal and say how about on my next birthday?Or I will cut down on snacks.

And if you know the facts you can win the argument, and every negative she says turn it into a positive.
I don't know much about lowlights to be honest, but I was able to convince my mom to let me dye my hair.

I basically told her that I felt like I needed a change. I said I was getting bored with my appearance and that I didn't feel all that pretty. I told her that I thought dying my hair would give me some confidence that I didn't have and I told her that it would mean a lot to me.

I made up a bunch of stuff that made it sound like if I didn't get it done my life would suck. It's extremely dramatic and made me sound a bit like a spoiled brat but it worked. Try it out, see what happens. :) Good luckk.

i'm naturally strawberry blond /dirty blond with red it'd kinda darker in winter. and i have reddish brown hair color now and want to go back to close to ma natural color but i want to do it my self and try to do as least damage as possible if i can get some real feed back with out people being mean thank you much

You can get permanent hair colour removers, like l'oreal color zap, color oops or goldwell systems removers, but i'd read up on these first as they can give dodgy results. But for what you want its worth looking up.

You're probably going to have to bleach it somewhat though, but bleaching isn't scary as long as you take strand tests before hand and be careful and thorough.Hair coloring tips needed?
Since you're staying red you don't have too much to worry about.

But you might not want to go from that dark of a color to that light just at one time. But if you're doing it yourself then go look for that color and if your current hair color isn't even close to the ones on the side (where it says if your hair color is this your result will be this) Then I'd suggest finding the hair color closest to yours on the side and dye it that first. Then wait a bit and go for the strawberry blonde.

But if you don't want to wait I'd just go to the salon. They'll know what to do and you don't have to worry about messing up.
you need to strip the colour out of your hair. Try vanish colour remover or corrector i cant remember what its called.

Then you need to bleach it, to a level 8, then you need to colour it.

    I would use wella
I think you should stick with your hair know because the other one is probably not your real hair color cause i have never seen hair like that.

You would have to get it died every 2 months
just get that stuff that removes permanent hair dye, then yu will have a better idea.

Ok so im a natural golden blondish brown hair girl.

I dyed my hair midnight black and its looks great on me and i love it!!!!

But now i wanna try my hair like a barbie blonde.....

I have no idea where to start i really dont wanna blech my hair so i was thinking about buying a blonde hair dye box from the store where i usually get my midnight black hair dye....

Any tips or suggestions about going about this without drying my hair out really bad........

    Thanx

Or and honestly i wouldnt even know how to go abouts on how to bleach my hair cuz i have no clue on what you would have to use to do it........Hair Coloring Tips......... Plz?
i would suggest getting it done by a professional because going from black to blonde is extreme

but if you're going to do it your self...

you should bleach it before you put the blonde dye in

if you don't it will most likely not come out the color you want it to

make sure you do like a weekly hot oil treatment to keep your hair healthy =]

and use color protecting shampoos =]Hair Coloring Tips......... Plz?
well, going from midnight black to platinum blonde is way harder than going from blonde to black. it'll damage your hair soo much because you will have to bleach it, and it might not come out really good, it'll probably look orange.

if you absolutely want to have your hair platinum blonde, then i suggest going to your hairdresser, or if you dont have one, look up someone in your area with good reviews, and get it done professionally.

    good luck!
Maybe you shouldn't bye your hair so much.

Natural golden blondish brown is what I have. Everyone tells me that I shouldn't usually dye it, and I totally agree.

It's ok if u r a teen, but u better let your natural color show for a while.
you use bleach, well i do and then you dye it to the color
First off let me explain you cannot buy a box color from the store, to make midnight black hair, blonde. Color does not lift color. To make your hair Barbie doll blonde you have to remove all the black pigment out of your hair. This means you have to bleach it. What this also means is, is your hair will receive alot of dryness and damage from this process. I recommend you going to a PROFESSIONAL to get your hair done. And plan on it costing a bit and you will probably be in there 3 or 4 hours for this procedure. Your hair has a shelf life, which means you cannot continually keep changing from one drastic hair color to another without your hair dying. At some point your hair gets so damaged that only a hair cut will help. Hair color should not be sold to the public for that very reason.

    Need hair-coloring tips pleaze!!!?

i am thinking of getting my hair died pink on the bottom layer. right now my hair is dark brown and layered. i think it would be cute to have hot pink on the bottom layer but there could be something cuter that you thought of. Any suggestions?

    *~THANK YOU!~*Need hair-coloring tips pleaze!!!?
Pink is awesome just that it might ruin an outfit or too. You might want to consider a burgundy/ bright red with the brown it would be great and be more versatile. Either way it should be nice. Good Luck! Need hair-coloring tips pleaze!!!?
Just buy some of the hair dye remover that they sell at Walgreen's, Walmart, anywhere and put it on your bottom layer. When the time's up, dye it pink. The remover will prepare your strands for the intense pink dye and strip it of any other color so the pink will set better and stay vibrant for a longer amount of time.

Oh, and the remover makes your hair either orange, pink, white, blonde, or any mixture of those colors. Don't let it freak you out. That's just how your hair looks without any pigments.

    Cute idea by the way.

Hot pink, purple, or blue. Any of those I'd do with anything light and neon will not look good/effect your hair badly.

And to anyone who says oh that would look bad, maybe it just because you don't have her personal style and you'd rather have a sweet innocent hair cut then rock out haircut. Think before you say.
    i have

dark brown and i have pink

    hiqhlights

    go for it

i think it wouldd look really really hot

i think youh if youh want qet highlights all over your hair nah in the bottom

and if youh have bangs there too

or just stick wiff your idea it sounds qood

    =]

thats kind of how my hair was but if ur gonna do a whole layer of pink, ull have to bleech that layer b4 u put the pink in or it wont stand out enuf

i think some light blonde hilights would be cute on the top too:)
idk about that... dont do it solid... just do some streaky highlights and then u can change it back easier if u dont like it or add more...

%26amp; i know u dont want other colors, but i think just doin black would be cool. :]
uhm..i don't think you should because what about the cloths that you wear wouldn't it clash with your cloths but i don't know i just think you should pick another color :P
i think hot pink would look a little overdone, i'd suggest maybe a light, pastel pink always looks cute and doesn't clash with brown hair.

    hmmm...

    the pink would look cute...

try going for a few very light pink streaks on the other parts of your hair along with the bottom layer
i have the same hair and did the samething but you are going to want to bleach the tips first to get a nice hot color
I like that idea but maybe bleach your hair first or die it black might look better.

Bleach the bottom out and dye it pink
pink and brown, arnt good mixed colors.

I'd try a purple, or maybe a blue!
Very nice. Thanks for answering my question.
I wouldn't try a pink. Instead I would do a sort of reddish colour.
maybe pink streaks. Or just go with what you have. Nope nothing cuter

OMG totally go for it! There is a girl in my class and she has dark brown hair and she dyed the bottom hot pink and it looks great! It does make peoples head turn and it looks cute when up in a pony tail! I think you should do it!
My only suggestion is to not do it.

But if you must, use semi-perminant. I know from experience you will get tired of it soon if not right away.
nice that sound pretty cool acctually... y cousin did that once just the whole thing with the bottom layer black and black edges so it was a punkish look but id you dont like that then... just go with what u thought
I think that would look AMAZING. I want to get my hair dyed black on the bottom but everyone does that so I'm gunna do like blue or something :)
I think hot pink is cute! But I think you should do black on top and hot pink on bottom.
pink would be cute, but i also think that blonde on the bottom layer would be cute too.
pink would be very ceute but i u have brown hair? you sould go to a more darker pink or red =3

it would eccent your hair better!
Well I wont suggest but I think pink hair is ugly on any other color other than blonde, it makes you look like a clown. Sorry if i sound mean.
How can we answer without suggesting other colors?
a picture would be helpful but leave your poor hair alone. bad idea it will kill your hair and it won't grow for awhile.
what about a blue or purple what about if you put the color on the bottom layers of your hair.
I THINK BLUE PINK IS A UGLY COLOR!!!
i suggest don't use a mousse dye. i did, it fried my hair

an option would be to bleach the most inner layer of hair blonde so you'll have a brown outer ''shell'' and blonde peeking out from underneath. a lot of people do the vice versa and have blonde on the outside and a dark color on the inside. this is a cool variation, it's something different.Hair coloring tips!!?
red or strawberry blonde...strawberryblonde is red then fades to pink then to blonde
This product is foolproof - meaning I tried it and it worked hella good for me :) It is Couleur Experte by Loreal (you know those commercials with Eva Longoria? Her hair looks SO good- and I suggest the color that looked like hers - with caramel highlights )

    Have fun! You'll look great.
Since you want a more funky look without going blue, try reds with the same undertones as the brown.

    Hair coloring tips??mom w/ gray!?

i was told once by the lady who use to cut my hair to only dye your hair 1-2 shades differnt from the natural color. my hair is a dark brown. i think it's call dark chestnut!? what is 1-2 shades lighter to this? don't want to many dark roots when it starts to grow out. %26amp; what is a good brand that covers gray but will not kill my hair? thanks. :)Hair coloring tips??mom w/ gray!?
well i think i can help, i color hair for just about everyone i know including my mom who has grey too so my suggestion is to use a good cream coloring with conditioner. Loreal is a good one but you have to get the kind that says works good on grey! the cheaper brands won't give you the results you want and usually dont have good conditioner so go for a higher up brand and price. look at the box and look at the back, this will show you approxitmatly what color your hair will turn out when done. but keep in mind that everyones hair colors differently so you have to kindof experiment at first. get a color that isn't permanent if your not sure that its what you want. then follow the directions as to the timing because from experience coloring grey can be hard. 45 minutes is usually how long you will want to keep it in for better results. as for a shade if you want to keep your color more like it is now just find the one it matches best it really isn't bad if you don't get it right on because you can surprise yourself and find you actually like a different color, believe me i've had all kinds of different color hair and i've liked most od them!! GOOD LUCK!!Hair coloring tips??mom w/ gray!?
I think the semi permanent colors are healthiest for your hair and more pleasant to use.ie Natural Instincts

Decide if your color is more golden or ash then look at boxes in that family one shade lighter (usually the number on the boxes get smaller).

Have fun with it. You can always change it next time.

Well since you have black hair, the color that you'll add is going to turn out a bit darker than the color expected.

I don't recommend orange because it'll probably be a dark, brown orange. but red will probably turn out to be a burgundy, and the purple will probably be a very dark (if it even shows) purple.

I think that you'll have to dye your hair in a brighter color so your black hair will balance it out. so, maybe like a brighter red?Hair color tip for layers?
my opinion is use a natural color like carmel blonde ish or a brown , if you don't want ppl to think your emo or what ever they'll think but for a ohmigosh i love her hair style go with purple since you have black hair

My hair is naturally really dark brown, any time I have gone lighter, I had to have it done by a professional. The only red that I get by myself is a dark reddish brown. Hair coloring tips for dark hair........?
i had dark brown hair too and i wanted to turn mine blonde so i went to the store and got a hair dye box kit, the lightest one they had. it took me about 8 months to get to the hair color i finally wanted. so it might take a while if you use the box kits. if you want it done faster you should go to a hair dresser and they can give you the color u want but it will be more expensive then the box kit.
Use a dye(professional style) that has to be mixed with peroxide.

This process should be done by a professional.

But if you choose to do it yourself, please read the directions carefully.

I suggest you use a 40 volume peroxide mixed with whatever color you desire...

I would get it professionally done. I have dark brown hair. My hair is now blonde on top, but i have to go get it done....it turns orange if i try to do it.
tip: Make sure the box says that it says permanant on the box
    get it profesionally done.
For the true color you would need to bleach it then dye it.

    Hair Color Tips:

Highlighting is a great way to add tone to monochromatic hair (jet black, pure brown).

Beware of hair colors that have green, blue, or purple undertones, like “ash”. If you mix them with warm tones, your hair color will turn out green.

The levels (one to twelve) you see on hair coloring boxes are the lightness or darkness of the color. Level one is black (darkest) and level twelve is light blond. “Complimentary colors” are opposite each other on the color wheel. Blue-orange, violet-yellow, etc. If you want to neutralize unwanted highlights, choose the complementary color. For instance, red will cancel out an ash undertone, and an ashen color neutralizes any red highlights in your hair.

Be sure to check if your hair color is a “progressive dye”. Progressive dyes continually add more color with each use. For instance, if you’re coloring blond hair black, your first use of a progressive hair color may not give the result you expected. However, continued use will turn your hair jet black.

Hair colors, like perms, are chemically based. If you’re pregnant, be sure to check with your doctor before coloring your hair.

Henna hair dyes are organic based hair colors that don’t mix well with chemicals.

Stay out of the pool and the ocean after coloring your hair. Neither sea salt nor chlorine mixes well with chemical hair colors.

i usually put the color in a bowl and paint it on my hair with a brush instead of using the bottle...but i was wondering it you put the color on your hair with your fingers rather then the colorbrush will it work better? i am really bad a coloring my hair so any tips about the hair color application process will be great! ;)

also if you leave the color on for longer then says to in the directions will it be more vibrant?

i am using loreal feria high lift brunette btwDoes anyone have hair coloring tips?
Loreal is a good product but don't use it longer than the directions as it is a chemical that can harm your hair. You can take sections of your hair and pin them back and slowly paint it on your hair but the bottle and fingers work better for getting close to the scalp. That is why they give gloves to use. Even hair stylists often ask others to dye their hair as it is difficult to get the entire area such as the back. See if you can get a friend to assist with applying it to the back sections so it is evenly applied.Does anyone have hair coloring tips?
I usually find that if you're doing it YOURSELF, then it's actually easiest to use your fingers, because it's easier to get everything thoroughly.

    A few other things:

    - shower right before you do it, but just use shampoo and not conditioner, then your hair will be more porous/dry so it will absorb more of the dye and absorb it better

    - I usually leave it in a little longer than the box says...the box usually says 20 minutes, I usually do 30-60

    - Right after you wash out your hair, rinse it with vinegar [and then rinse that out] because that raises the pH of your hair and should make the color stay in longer

    - If you can stand it, wash your hair in cooler as opposed to hot water

    Hope I helped :]
Using your fingers instead of a brush for distributing the hair won't be better. I suggest sticking to the brush instead. A few other tips are to seperate your hair by layers and then dye your hair in order, To Make sure you don't miss any strands. Also, When you are done distributing the hair color, Gently massage it into your scalp with your fingers to help get the roots better. Leaving the hair dye on longer will strip away the healthy hair and damage your hair (Burning it in other words), I do not suggest You leave the hair dye on add more than 5 minutes to it.
the brush is more messier that the tip.

the tip you know where its going and how much your adding and how much you need to add and its better to getting all the roots cause you end up just mixing your hair up.

whats really good is when you dye your hair is to put a lot on the root then take the rest of your hair and work the solution through like that, then getting the tricker spots, behind the ears the neck ect.

But the benifit and the only one i see about using a brush is that it wont get on your face as much as the tip but thats the only good thing i see about it, and with the tip you can always just put vasiline around your hair line so it wont get on your skin.

And no if you leave it on longer it wont be more vibrant just somewhat darker, and it can damage your hair more.
The best thing is to have a salon do it b/c they use ammonia free products that won't damage the root of your hair. BUT they are expensive so out of the box has to do sometimes :)

The best way I was told was to section your hair in layers and work from the tip to the root, doing the root last b/c it will change the fastest (heat from your scalp speeds up the process and you don't want two toned hair)

I was told to use the bottle then spread it in with your fingers. If you have long hair, use two bottles. Once you're covered, then take a COMB and brush thru it to even it out. Cover with a shower cap and take a hair dryer on LOW and heat the cap to help set the color. Keep checking it every so often to make sure the color is even. Good luck and make sure to use gloves!
From what I've heard, leaving color on longer than the time stated on the directions will not produce a more vibrant color. However, there are products that you can buy to enhance your hair color. By far the best is from Artec. Their shampoo and conditioner have color molecules suspended in their formula and they come in a variety of colors. Hope this helps!
You can use your fingers (with gloves on) then use a wide toothed comb to even everything out. I color my own hair too, but it really depends on what you want done to it. If you're putting in color (not bleaching) the results can be really flattering, but I would use professional colors from Sally's.

    Hope that helps
There is no difference but the color can stain your hands....

the are some shampoos and hair treatments that you can by at a salon

or barber shop that will keeo your hair color more vibrant
Don't get it on your fingers, it will burn your skin and dye it. The color gets darker the longer you leave it in and if your going lighter than your natural color try bleaching it first. Hope this helps!
i wish i can help but i just dye my hair black from brown soo idk lol

use ur fingers, its much easier to make sure u work in all of the color. also, the brush will absorb the dye so u may not have enough for your hair

Totally! I also love blue in blonde hair. I'd stay away from green though lol. It also looks nice to put black in with blonde hair. I'd go with purple or blue. =)
Purple and pink usually look best in blonde hair (although it also looks good in black)

Okay, so i was being stupid and i put strips of red dye (perment) in my hair, and i dont know how to take them out. My hair is a dark blonde right now, and i want it to become a lighter blonde. What you should do for the best results is to make an appt.at a salon so a stylist can help you out, believe if you attempt this on your own the results can turn out disastrous,I worked in a salon for years and stylists know the best way to correct the problem and give you something that will go with your skin tone.Hope this is of some help.

i have several tips I could give you!

    1. You need to go to a salon to get your hair done

    2. Coloring your hair on your own can be very bad for your hair and truthfully if you do you will probably end up hating it and going somewhere to get it done professionaly anyways and then you ended up spending more money and you would do a lot of damage to your hair.

    3. If your hair is not already a very dark brown I would not recomend coloring your hair black it will look abnormal and would also be very bad for your hair.
make sure you do it evenly!, cause sometimes, with the box color kits, if you don't to it evenly it'll show.

    Naturally orange hair coloring tips?

I have heard that if you rinse your hair enough times in rosehip tea, your hair will turn red.

I have also heard (and have tested and do know) that lemon juice can bleach out your hair.

I personally have naturally a golden blonde hair color. If I were to mix lemon juice and rose hip tea, and rinse my long hair in that every day, will my hair turn light orange? I really love that color and I absolutely refuse to use dye products.Naturally orange hair coloring tips?
The dye products in the beauty salon are of great quality and even have vitimins in them. There are green dyes. Meaning organic. The products over the counter are the colors to avoid. The lemon doesn't lift enought color to make a difference. The rosehip could be weird. It sounds like a mess. Mix equal parts of the rosehip and lemon and only do a small stand test in the hair. Before doing it all over to come find out it made a mess or nothing at all.

i think the greatest tip is to have somebody help you. a mom friend or sister works great. also wear clothes you don't care that get stained. you might also want to dye your hair in a place like your basement or whatever so you don't stain anything. hair dye is really a hard stain to get out of anything. another good idea is to have a timer on hand so you don't leave the dye in too long. and follow the directions well. i'm trying not to forget anything here. oh and touch up your roots every 4-6 weeks so you don't look tacky. and good luck with your new color!DYING HAIR BLACK! i think your hair is nice as it is but you could put pre-lightner on it, that would make it go lighter, also i recommend you use 2 dyes, as your hair looks quite long, %26amp; the darkness of your hair may not take the dye

you could always do your hair lighter gradually %26amp; by going a few shades lighter each time, that would probably be better for your hair

first i think that would be very pretty and use that hair color but in smaller amounts than if you were dying it a very different shade of color - Starr

    HELP ME! Hair color tips?

No one answered me before, and I need to know by today as i am dying my hair tonight.

Alright, so I recently had my hair done maybe 2 weeks ago, and I HATE it. I have dark chocolate brown hair in the back, and then this blond highlights and lighter brown around my face and front area. I'm taking matters into my own hands this time. I just want my hair to all be chocolate brown, permanent. So what should I do to make this lighter color get to the chocolate brown I like? I have never dyed my hair at home, but I am Not wasting all my money just to do this! (It ends up not being what I like anyways..) What brand should I use? I am only dying the lighter parts, so one box should be fine?

I need tips! thanks!!HELP ME! Hair color tips?
Coloring your hair again within 2 weeks may not be such a good idea. Double check with a professional before you do it. Loreal is the brand recommended to me by my hair stylist. 25 years in the business and she knows what she's doing. The color may not match the first time you do it. Just be aware of that.

    Lifting hair color tips?

I just dyed my hair a lighter shade of brown recently and now it's time to do my roots again. The first time I did it, of course I started on the roots, left it on for about 20 or so, then left it on the rest of my hair for another 20-25. The problem I'm having is that my roots are coming out so much lighter than the rest of my hair, but directions say to start with roots. Anyone have any helpful tips on how I can even it out? BTW, I'm not using some over the counter dye, I bought some good stuff at the beauty supply called Silk, so it works pretty good. I'm just looking to even out my color.Lifting hair color tips?
Never start with the roots for lighter color. The heat from your head and the virginality of that hair makes it develop faster. that's why it came up lighter. Now that the rest of your hair is the color you want it just put the color on your roots until it too is that color.Lifting hair color tips?

    Hair Color Tips/Opinion?

    Hi there

I have been thinking about coloring my hair but dont really know where to start.

Here is a quick background info: Born blonde and up until about 10 years old i was very blonde, then puberty must have kicked in and decided to change my hair to brown which is what it is now. I just think its kind of dark and dull and wouldnt mind lighting it up a bit with blonde or a lighter brown perhaps.

Ok first of all in your opinion would i suit going blonde from the current picture. Or perhaps a lighter brown. [ http://www.st18x.com/images/signatures/r鈥?/a> ] Thats my current hair style and color.

If yes, should i do it myself? are there any tips for this... i have tried it once years ago and my hair ended up an orange color. Did i not leave it in long enough?

Or should i get it professionally done, what do i ask them to do?

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

    RyanHair Color Tips/Opinion?
it looks fine as it is. i dont think blonde would suit you, but if you really want to change ur color, perhaps go a little lighter but not blonde.

btw; u probably didnt leave it long enough. did u wait 30 min? if u did, then maybe u should consider a professional. u wouldnt want to end up with orange hair again :)

u remind me of matt dallas in that pic lol.

but yeah u look fine with brown hair.

    edwardzslady duh%26lt;3Hair Color Tips/Opinion?
I think darker brown would be way better, maybe even black?

You can do it at home if you want but try to get a friend to help you to make sure you don't miss any spots and have a random light brown patch ya know?

If you want to go to a salon just tell them you want it dyed a deep rich chocolate brown color :]
a lighter brown would be cute. but since you did it your self last time and it ended up turning orange, then you should get it professionally done.
i say keep it the way it is : )

The best way 2 look hot is by applying a lot less than d hoochies of 2day do. Coz of ur skin color i suggest colors lyk glitery brown, gold n green. you can bend color in lyk i do i.e. gold layer then green to wards d end of ur eye bt dnt put too much green so it dnt overshadow d gold.

Please dont use alot of blush either so you dnt look ly a doll it aint pretty. jus lightly across ur cheekbones.

    Hair color tips?!! help pleassse?

i have golden hair / very light brown.. im tired of my natural hair color.. what color would match since im really white? any suggestions?Hair color tips?!! help pleassse?
since you have ';virgin'; hair meaning that it has never been colored before you hair will take color really well. but be aware that once u start dying your hair it is very hard to get back to your natural color. and you hair will simply never be as healthy as it is right now.

    that being said.

if you have been paying attention to any style mags lately the pale face with dark locks is in.

you could go quite dark and i am sure you will simply look better, light or golden hair can tend to wash your face out.

make sure that you match your eyebrows so they dont clash.

or you could go very blonde. which if i could start over i would. i love blonde hair in the summer time.

if you can go to a salon then what about going much darker with some bright platinum highlights.

well remeber if you go light first and you dont like it you can always go dark.

but if you go dark...getting back to a natural light is very difficult.

    good luck

If you know anyone good at photoshop, have them take the color you're thinking of and add it to a photo of yourself.

But I'd say heck, you're 15, time to try new stuff. But try just a strand of hair first, some dyes react weird to some hair. I know an Asian girl who once tried to dye her jet black hair purple, to look Gothic. Turned out all wrong.Hair color tips Please!!! African American.?

What are some before and after hair coloring tips?

Im dying my hair one week from tomorrow. What are some before and after tips? I have some before tips but i need more after tips. (LOL that sounds werid!)What are some before and after hair coloring tips?
Dyeing your hair without assistance is sometimes necessary, so take the proper precautions to ensure your dye job is as good-looking and painless as possible.

Choosing the brand of dye is an important first step. Some dyes--such as the ';mousse'; types of non-permanent color--are actually designed to be self-applied. If you're aiming for a color that will wash out in a few weeks, these are by far the best route to go. Simply shake the can and spray the mousse into your gloved palm, then thoroughly work through your hair, just as you would shampoo. Take a quick shower half an hour later, and your hair will have undergone the transformation!

Pin a towel around your shoulders to protect your clothing from dye spatters and wear plastic gloves to protect your hands. Avoid rubber gloves, as they will snag on your hair. Brush your hair so that it is straight and keep a rattail comb handy for separating strands. Part your hair down the middle. Position yourself in front of a mirror, sitting down if possible, and begin the process.

Dip the brush into the dye and, starting with the left side of your head, section off clumps of hair and apply the dye. Do not come too close to your scalp with the dye, and although you should be careful not to smear it on your face, neck or ears, it can be cleaned off once the process is finished. Don't stop the dyeing process to clean off skin--it will happen continuously and is easy enough to remove once the dye process is complete. Once you have finished a piece, pull it over onto the right side of your part to dry and move on. Continue until all visible hair on the left side of your head is coated in the dye. Then, move around to the back, the trickiest part. You may want to position another mirror behind you, or simply pull the clump up so that you can see it in the mirror before you to ensure that it is thoroughly covered, and let it rest on top of your head to dry. This is exhausting on the arms and a little tedious, so rest if need be, but keep in mind that the dye is already setting into much of your hair.

Once the back is done, the coated left side should be congealed enough that it can be moved back without getting dye on your face and neck. The back clumps can also be maneuvered to the left. Go through the same process on the right side of your head, pulling the clumps over onto the left in order to reach the bottom parts.

Once your whole head of hair has been coated, set a timer according to the package directions, and begin the process of cleaning dye spatters from your face, neck, and ears. Use soap and water, being careful not to touch your hairline, and if necessary a heavy-duty cleaner can be employed and quickly rinsed again with soap and water. Keep long hair away from your skin using a large clip.

Once the dye has set, it is time to rinse. It is recommended to do this in the shower so that you will have both hands free, putting your gloves back on once the water is running at an acceptable temperature. Be careful of shower curtains that could become accidentally speckled with dye. Following the package instructions, run warm water through your hair and shampoo accordingly, and remove your gloves once the water runs clear again. Ensure that you remove any dye on your body with soapy water before getting out of the shower, or you may find your skin dyed for quite a while! This is particularly important when dying hair black, and once you have removed your gloves, use caution when running fingers through your wet hair. Vestiges of dye may still be lingering there--once your hair is completely dry this will be nothing to worry about--and can still stain your skin at this point.

When you emerge from the shower, simply dry and style your hair as usual!

What are some before and after hair coloring tips?
    Lol that sounds weird.

Well make sure when you pick the colour that you think about what it will look like when it fades. Also when you first dye it, it may feel very silky, but that's because of how they washed your hair. After that your hair gets really dry, so you hae to make sure when you wash your hair, use conditioner or moiserizer, and also a kind of shampoo that doesn't wash the colour away.

Also when straightening or curling you hair, it will get SUPER dry, so make sure you spray moisterizer before doing it.
well, don't wash your hair before dyeing it.. [i think most dyes say not to wash it the day of dyeing it. but you'll have to check with the dye your useing.] and after you dye it, you should use shampoo and conditioner for colour treated hair. [this will keep your hair in good condition and help your colour to last longer!] other then that.. that's pretty much it.

hope i helped! %26amp; good luck with your new hair colour! :)

try a clarifying shampoo, or maybe vinigar...Hair color tips anyone?
    Never dyed before
Good answers above. Bottom line, I'd recommend going to a colorist. They can let you know what's best for you, depending on your hair type and the color you used. It's worth the price to get good advice and treatment.
Providing that your hair and scalp are in good condition to begin with, colouring your hair at home should ensure vibrant, professional-looking results without damage, at a fraction of the cost of going to a salon.

Advances in colour technology, pioneered by industry giants such as L'Or茅al and Wella and celebrity hairdressers including Jo Hansford, Daniel Galvin, Nicky Clarke and Charles Worthington, mean that formulas are of a high quality, with an excellent colour choice.

So far so good, but to really get the most out of your purchase, thorough preparation, the techniques you employ and appropriate aftercare are key. The same level of effort should go into colouring your hair as goes into applying fake tan - streaky, patchy effects will be about as unwelcome and unattractive, so you should never just slap it on.

If a strand or skin test is recommended then do it 48 hours before colouring your hair. This is particularly important if you're using a permanent dye which contains the sort of chemicals that can trigger an allergic reaction from slight to life-threatening, so don't take any unnecessary risks in the name of vanity. Dab a small amount of the product on to a patch of skin in the crook of the elbow and if any irritation, swelling or redness occurs, wash it off immediately and don't use it on your hair. A strand test will also give you an idea of the final colour result before you commit yourself. Don't be tempted to dye your hair if you're suffering from any scalp disorders, cuts or scratches.

If you do end up with dye stains on your skin, rubbing on cigarette ash works wonders

Just skimming the detailed instructions that accompany the products is a recipe for disaster. Colour guru Daniel Galvin, whose celebrity client list includes Nicole Kidman, Kylie and Anna Friel, recommends carefully reading the instructions through twice before making a start. Also, if you're dyeing your hair during office hours don't forget that you can take advantage of the dye brand's helpline number - usually printed on the pack - if you have any queries.

Prepare the area you're planning to use (most likely the bathroom) by removing anything precious within dye-splashing distance and putting an old towel on the floor before you mix up the colour. Wear old clothes and remove your jewellery. Apply a layer of cold cream or Vaseline around the hairline and over the tips of the ears will to stop the skin from staining. Use another old towel to dry your hair with afterwards, as there's always some colour residue. If you do end up with dye stains on your skin, rubbing on cigarette ash works wonders - no, it doesn't sound particularly appealing, but top colourists swear by it!

Take your time and try to work section by section, using a wide-toothed comb rather than just rubbing dollops randomly into your hair. Keep your head upright and watch what you're doing in the mirror when working through the top sections rather than being upside down over the sink the whole time. Try not to rub the dye into the scalp; work towards middle lengths and ends of the hair. If you can get a friend to apply it for you, so much the better. Stick to the development-time guide and rinse hair thoroughly to remove any residue. Finish with a long, cool rinse. Most brands contain a fabulously rich conditioner as a finishing touch and this should be applied as instructed for optimum results.

If you use a permanent colour and want to retouch any regrowth every four to six weeks, apply the product carefully and precisely, to the dark roots only rather than overlapping on to the already tinted hair. This will minimise damage and prevent a weird mottled tortoiseshell effect.

After hair has been coloured don't wash it or go swimming in a chlorinated pool for at least 48 hours. If you're planning a holiday in the sun, colour hair a minimum of four to six weeks before departure so it has time to settle before being exposed to all that sunlight.

Remember that hair requires gentle handling after chemical processing. After giving hair a quick blast dry, use your hairdryer on a lower setting. Don't use too many heat-styling appliances such as straighteners, tongs or heated rollers without first prepping the hair with a product such as Superdrug Gum Hair Re-hab Milk (拢3.99) or Redken Spray Starch Heat Memory Styler (拢8.50, call 0800 444880).

However, a word to the wise: if your hair is overprocessed through too much bleaching and peroxiding or you have a mass of split ends or summer-parched locks then you're not going to end up looking anything like the fabulously coiffed model on the box. The words 'get thee to a hairdresser' should be your mantra.

If you're nervous about the change, go for a light or caramel brown first, then work your way up. If you want to experiment without messing up your own hair, coloring hair extensions is your best bet. Vitae has a hair that you can experiment on. The ';virgin'; one they have is safe for processing. Off the top of my head I believe it's www.vitaehair.com. Good luck!

Hair color tips and treatments, please?

I have been lightening my hair for years. I'm naturally a dark blonde. Here's my dilema....I dye only my roots, to maintain my color, however I still fight split ends. I trim every few monthes, use good conditioner and heat style very little, but still seem to be dry on only my ends!? Also, after having my children, my hair seems to be harder to keep uniform in color (darker underneath, and much lighter on the sides) I'm wondering if there is a particular way I should be coloring, or if there may be a better brand of color to use. I currently use Clairol Hydrience, in natural pale blonde. I've always done it myself with good results, and because of the length avoid professionals due to cost %26amp; frequency that it has to be colored. My avatar color is lighter than my actual color. My real hair actually has multi highlights, and is very healthy other than the ends. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!Hair color tips and treatments, please?

Any hair color tips for greasy hair?

I have some issues with greasy hair which is mainly due to a thyroid disease I have. I am looking to perhaps color my hair in some way whether it's highlights or dye my whole hair one color. Would doing this help dry my hair out? My hair is a dirty blonde, so I'm looking to either go blonder or more brunette. Any suggestions? Would these colors help decrease the look of greasiness? Thanks! I'll award a best answer if there is one!Any hair color tips for greasy hair?
Darker hair will generally look greasier than it is because it reflects shine better than lighter colors. Going lighter usually creates more dryness in the hair than going darker because it has to open up the outermost layer of your hair (cuticle) to get to the innermost layer of your hair (cortex) to lift the color to a lighter shade. If your hair is more dry than it usually is..it my absorb more of your natural oil resulting in a less greasy look. So while there isn't anything you can do about how much oil you produce...going blonder may ease the look of greasiness. The best of luck to you...and on those in between days where your hair seems greasier than usual, you can always comb in a little baby powder to your roots to help absorb some of the excess. Good luck to ya!Any hair color tips for greasy hair?
i don't have super oily hair but it would look dirty and oily around the roots 1 day after i washed it. a few years ago i bleached the heck out of it, going from naturally medium brown to platinum blonde and i dyed it a lot. it became super dry and my hair didn't get oily as fast. my hair has grown out since then and is more healthy and it again gets oily after a short time. so yes if your hair was more dry/damaged it would most likely not get as oily but i'm guessing you would have to drastically change the color. the best way would be to bleach it to like a platinum blonde - bleaching your hair twice with 20 or 30 volume peroxide. just dying your hair one time doesn't really do much damage - store bought hair dye isn't really damaging at all. the higher the peroxide, the more damaging. if you don't want it that light you can redye it with a slightly darker color if you wanted but i would recommend bleaching it first to dry it out. your hair will probably be damaged but you can use a reconstructing conditioner on it and it will make your hair look better visually but it will still be damaged. that's what i did anyway. good luck!
dying your hair will dry your hair out, but not the way you want it to. find a good shampoo for greasy hair, don't brush your hair as much, %26amp; when washing your hair don't scrub your scalp too hard because that will make your hair even more greasy.
putting talcon powder or baby powder helps reduce appearance of greasyness... i personally wouldnt dye it as it wont change it...

Try various shampoos and conditioners which specialise in greasy hair :)

    Hair color tips???????????

Ok so i have brown hair i have dyed it a few times always darker and i'm kinda pale and i want to dye my hair black but then i thought i will look weird because my eyebrows will be brown. But i want to look a little emo. But i don't want to cut my hair because i'm growing it out (after a too short haircut). So would i look weird with black hair? If so what color should i dye it?Hair color tips???????????
You could do a semi-perment hair die, I suggest natural instincts. If you want it to look kinda emo with out cutting it short you could do emo bangs or scene hair. My friend natrally has light brown hair and she dies it black and it doesn't look weird btw.

lol... you'll look great just so long as you be yourself. The one great thing about hair is simply that it's not permanent. Sometimes I like to go blonde, sometimes brunette (can be a hassle though) and I lve the thought of just being someone new.

Not sure about the brown eyebrows, might be a little strange, but then who really cares.
